A GREAT BREEDER IS AN ARTIST - THINK LIKE ONE TOO: Success is what most breeders are chasing, even if they dont want to say it out loud. And lets be honest thats why most of us are here, aint it? If it were only about doing it for the breed, youd be perfectly fine selling your bred dogs as pets. But youre not. And thats okay. That fire to win, to stand out, to produce something exceptional thats what drives progress.
No matter where you are in your breeding journey right now, you can change direction. You can sharpen your eye, elevate your thinking, and level up your program. Most breeders dont fail because of their dogs they struggle because they get stuck in their own minds. Stuck doing things the way theyve always been done. Afraid to admit, I could do this bet- ter. Afraid to admit their dogs aint it yet.
But admitting that is power. Its the first step toward real improvement. Once youre honest with yourself, everything can change for the better. Being realistic and truly seeing your dogs faults is not weakness its the foundation of success.
There is no such thing as a perfect dog. The great ones are the dogs that shine through their faults. Thats the goal. Because at the end of the day, the dog that clearly stands out the one that owns the room thats the perfect one.
A correct type, true to the breed, and a dog that moves beautifully that is every breed- ers dream, isnt it? And in the end, the breed itself doesnt even matter. When you learn to truly understand and recognize a dogs faults, you also learn which dogs truly complement each other.
Breeding is challenging, especially in breeds where there is little quality material to work with. But everything has to start somewhere. And yes it can be done. After reading this book, you will understand that the best individuals are not always the best choices for breeding.
